Jerry "EQ" Miller

Press Statement: Honoring Jerry “EQ” Miller (1957–2024)

In 2024, The Untouchables and the broader mod, ska and punk community mourned the loss of Jerry Miller — co-lead vocalist, style icon, and a founding member of the band that helped define a generation. With his smooth voice, razor-sharp fashion, and unmistakable stage presence, Jerry embodied the heartbeat of The Untouchables — a band born in the streets of Los Angeles, forged in the fires of the ON Klub, and destined to break barriers as America’s first homegrown mod & ska powerhouse.

Jerry wasn’t just a frontman — he was a unifier. Alongside fellow skaters Clyde Grimes (RIP) and Chuck Askerneese, Jerry helped shape a sound rooted in 2-Tone rhythm, Northern Soul passion, and L.A. grit. His energy helped propel The UT’s from scooter crew to international  recognition and inspired a movement that spanned cultures, generations, and continents.

Following Jerry’s passing on October 3, 2024, after a long illness, fans and fellow artists rallied in celebration of his life and legacy. A benefit concert held on October 28, 2024, at The Glass House in Pomona (CA), served as both a tribute and a fundraiser — honoring Jerry by helping secure his final resting place at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, a cultural landmark in Los Angeles.

The Jerry Miller Tribute Concert featured an extraordinary lineup of ’80s and ’90s icons, including:

    • Oingo Boingo Former Members
    • The English Beat
    • The Untouchables (Feat. Former Members)
    • Dramarama
    • Bow Wow Wow
    • Josie Cotton

The evening also featured surprise appearances and was hosted by beloved radio personalities Richard Blade (Sirius XM), and Jimmy Alvarez (OC Music News / TNN Radio).

Special thanks to Rob Juarez of The Boss Booking Agency, as well as Paul & Perry Tollett and Jon Halperin of The Glass House whose production expertise brought the tribute concert to life and helped ensure that Jerry’s memory will resonate for generations to come.

Generous contributions provided by private donors combined with ticket and merchandise sales were greatly appreciated and provided a boost in funds for Jerry’s final resting place. In keeping with Jerry’s giving spirit, the remaining proceeds were matched by a corporate partner & donated to the American Kidney Fund, to combat the illness that afflicted Jerry.

Now, Jerry “EQ” Miller rests among legends. Yet his spirit — his voice, his style, and his message of unity through music — continues to ignite every Untouchables performance and inspire everyone on the dancefloor.
